What they need
Thank you for stopping by to take a look at the Supply Chain role I have posted on LinkedIN, I appreciate it quite a bit.
Allow me to introduce myself a bit. I realize that their are a lot of 'bots' and AI Tools out there that create JD's. Well, I am an actual person writing this on a Sunday Afternoon. So, no bots, no AI, just a dude watching some Sunday Afternoon Football and entertaining his cat. I say this because I like to add some humor to these things. Looking for work is about as fun as getting a root canal. So, if I can make it easier on you, I am going to sure do my best to try.
As with just about every role I work on, the social fit is almost as important as the technical fit. So, let me explain some of those social fit criteria:
- The hiring manager for this role is something of a technical guru when it comes to app development and so on. So, he is not seeking a genius...those people are too expensive anyway. What he is seeking, however, is someone who can be self-functioning and do what they say they can do while also admitting to the things that they don't know. No one person is going to know everything...so, it is completely ok to say "I know this, but I don't know this thing over here too well". He would much rather have you be honest about things.
- This is a low-ego, low-drama environment. If you have an ego the size of a planet or believe the entire world revolves around you, call the Khardashians...I hear they are hiring.
This role is being done onsite in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, the client for this role cannot provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future. As a result, I’m only able to work with candidates who have permanent authorization to work in the U.S. and will never require sponsorship (typically U.S. citizens or Green Card holders). With that in mind, if you require employer sponsorship at any point to continue working in the U.S., including under H1, EAD, STEM, OPT, or other time-limited work authorization we wont have a fit for this role.
This is a permanent and fully benefitted role with fun benefits like Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, PTO, Paid Holidays and all the goodies.
Here is what we are seeking for this role.
First, a little backstory. This is one of three warehouses for this pretty substantially sized retailer (the other wto are in Wichita Kansas an Fontana California). This warehouse has about 500,000 square feet with about 100 employees at this particular location. This part of an overall organization that has grown quite a bit over the years (they have roughly 8,000 employees at the present time...including retail associates).
So, for this role, we are seeking someone that has a solid technical handle on how warehouses work. A nice mix of how warehouse robotics behave (shipping, receiving, put away, etc) along with some solid Sql experience as well as - tadaa - an understading of how HighJump works will set the stage for a good fit for this role. You will be seen as the SME for this facility in that wonderful and enchanting world of warehouse workflows. So, if you have a solid understanding of how - from a technical standpoint, how warehouses 'flow' that will create an excellent fit for this role. You will also be collaborating with the other two tech experts (in other words, you peers) in the other two warehouses as well. So, you won't be alone on an island somewhere out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You will be going through HighJump training in this role as well...so, if you don't have tons of HighJump experience, but do have some solid Sql and warehouse workflow experience, that would be just fine.
Here are some of the main responsibilities for this role. If you are anything like me, you take a look at those JD's with a zillion bullet points and your eyes start to go a little buggy. So, instead of having a laundry list here, I will hit the high points:
- Oversee the maintenance and improvement of all Supply Chain Software Systems, including but not limited to: WMS, WCS, Hai Robotics Systems, 3PL Scanning System, and interfaces with external service providers.
- Design & implement business logic, web layouts, printed forms and system interfaces (this is where that deep understanding of how warehouse workflows behave comes in handy).
- Ensure adherence to coding standards while focusing on compliance with PCI and SOX standards.
- Collaboration with stakeholders while spearheading design, deployment and maintenance and QA of warehouse apps & services.
- Streamline system changes to assist with enhancing operations, diminish labor inefficiencies, and bolster the quality of operations.
- Collaborate actively with the Distribution Center Management team to garner feedback and optimize Supply Chain in an effort to maintain best practices in Supply Chain Management overall.
- Serve as the central point of contact between the WMS and other key Boot Barn Systems such as the ERP, WCS, GTMS's Manifest System, and Hai Robotics System.
- Proactively scout for RFPs and conduct comprehensive benefit/cost analyses for potential system upgrades, ensuring the organization stays ahead of technological advancements.
Here is what we are looking for:
- An Associates degree in Programming, IT or related field. We don't require a Bachelor's Degree, but it certainly would be nice to see.
- A minimum of 2-3 years working with Distribution Center (DC) systems, including but not limited to: HighJump or other WMS's. WMS experience is an absolute must have.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with SQL or similar programming languages (this is an absolute must have).
- At least 1 year of practical experience in utilizing APIs. I don't need an API developer...but if you have developed API's in your past (even simple ones) that would be nice to see.
- A thorough grasp of the nuances of Supply Operations, especially when it comes to Supply Chain workflows and how Supply Chain's behave from a technical standpoint. So, for example, if you have experience working with (from either a technical or functional point of view) Manhattan Associates, HighJump, or perhaps even SAP's WM module, that would be right up the alleyway of what we are seeking.
