What they need

Supply Chain Manager – Tauranga
Lead the Supply Chain Behind New Zealand Engineering on the Global Stage

What does it take to deliver highly engineered products from Tauranga to customers in more than 40 countries - on time, in full and to specification?

It takes accurate inventory, reliable suppliers, smart planning and a supply chain leader who can see the big picture while remaining close to what is happening on the factory floor.

Our client is a growing engineering manufacturer supplying specialist products to the global high-pressure gas industry. With approximately 85% of its products exported and ambitious growth plans ahead, this newly created Supply Chain Manager position will play a central role in the company’s next chapter.

This is an opportunity to shape an end-to-end supply chain function, lead the implementation of new inventory technology and establish the scalable systems needed to support continued international growth.
About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and joining a collaborative, tight-knit Senior Leadership Team, you will connect procurement, inventory, production, assembly, shipping and customer delivery.

Your goal is simple but critical: ensure the right materials and components are in the right place at the right time, so products can be manufactured and delivered to customers without delay.

This is not a role where you will simply maintain an established system. As a newly created position, it offers genuine scope to influence how the supply chain operates and make a visible impact across the business.

You will be encouraged to challenge the norm and introduce better ways of working, while first taking the time to understand the business, its people and the processes that already work well.
What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Take ownership of the inventory management system, improving inventory visibility, reporting and accuracy.
  • Lead end-to-end supply-chain planning, including material requirements, production planning and component availability.
  • Oversee stock control, inventory accuracy and annual stocktakes.
  • Lead, coach and develop three team members across stores, procurement and shipping, adapting your leadership style to their individual needs.
  • Manage procurement, supplier relationships and performance while diversifying supply sources and reducing availability risks.
  • Oversee shipping, export logistics and international distribution to customers in more than 40 countries.
  • Manage tariffs, trade agreements and other international export requirements.
  • Analyse supply-chain data and establish meaningful performance measures.
  • Collaborate with production, assembly, sales and product development to ensure products are delivered in full, on time and to specification.
  • Review and improve warehouse operations, internal planning processes and warehouse layout.
  • Introduce practical improvements such as barcoding and enhanced reporting.
  • Maintain safe, efficient and well-organised warehouse operations.
  • Balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, including checking stock and resolving materials issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement and establish scalable supply-chain practices that support future growth.

What You’ll Bring:

You will be an experienced supply chain professional who can contribute strategically while remaining closely involved in day-to-day operations.

You will bring:

  • Strong inventory management, stock control and supply-planning experience from a manufacturing or engineering background
  • Knowledge of materials and production planning
  • Experience with export shipping, tariffs and international trade requirements
  • Proven supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capability
  • Experience leading and developing team members with different needs
  • Practical knowledge of ERP and inventory management systems, e.g. Ostendo, NetStock
  • The ability to turn data into practical operational improvements
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach to leadership and change

What’s on Offer?

  • A competitive remuneration reflecting your skills and experience
  • A newly created role with genuine scope to make an impact
  • Direct access to the Managing Director and a place on the Senior Leadership Team
  • Ownership of a key system implementation and supply-chain improvements
  • A collaborative, close-knit culture within a growing global business

Next Steps:
If you are ready to take ownership of a critical supply chain, contribute at senior leadership level and lead meaningful improvements from the boardroom to the factory floor, we would welcome your application. Apply Now or contact Debbie Cathro on [+64 21 314 683](tel:+64 21 314 683) for a confidential discussion or email your CV to [email protected]
