Supply Chain Manager RDC APAC

About the role

Overall management and continuous development of supply chain and logistics activities across APAC, with a focus on the Hong Kong RDC. Proactive, hands-on collaboration with BALLUFF subsidiaries, production sites, service providers and headquarters. Ensure stable, efficient, compliant and customer-focused logistics processes throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

Warehouse & Distribution Management

• Manage the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) operated by a 3PL provider in Hong Kong.
• Oversee inbound, outbound, inventory management, warehouse capacity planning, and operational troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
• Support stock-taking activities, audits, inventory accuracy, and quality-related returns.

Transportation & Logistics Management

• Manage regional freight forwarders and transportation partners across air, sea, road, and courier (CEP) services.
• Monitor logistics performance, service quality, lead times, and transportation costs.
• Conduct regular business reviews and KPI evaluations with logistics service providers.
• Lead freight optimization and cost improvement initiatives.

Customs & Compliance

• Ensure import, export, customs, and trade compliance processes are executed accurately across APAC.
• Maintain compliance with customs regulations, export control requirements, and aviation security standards.
• Support customs duty optimization and risk mitigation initiatives.

Regional Supply Chain Coordination

• Serve as the key logistics advisor and escalation point for APAC subsidiaries.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Quality, Finance, Production, Procurement, and Global Supply Chain teams.
• Prepare and communicate shipping calendars, holiday plans, and logistics updates across the region.

Reporting & Data Analysis

• Analyze and report on:

  • Logistics costs
  • Transportation performance
  • Customs duties and taxes
  • Inventory quality
  • CO₂ emissions
  • Service level KPIs

• Ensure accurate maintenance of logistics and inventory-related data in SAP.

Continuous Improvement & Projects

• Lead regional logistics improvement and automation projects.
• Support transportation tenders, 3PL evaluations, warehouse relocation projects, and contract negotiations.
• Standardize logistics processes while balancing local business requirements.

About you

• At least four years of professional experience in logistics, supply chain, warehouse management or with a logistics service provider, combined with strong operational logistics expertise.
• Experience in international freight management across air, sea, road and CEP services, as well as import and export operations.
• Proven APAC experience and understanding of country-specific logistics, customs, market and service-provider structures, particularly in China and Hong Kong.
• Experience in managing 3PL warehouses and freight forwarders, as well as tenders, warehouse relocations, price negotiations and improvement projects.
• Knowledge of foreign trade, export control and customs regulations for China and Hong Kong, with confidence in dealing with customs authorities.
• Fluent Mandarin and English; Cantonese is desirable and German is an advantage.
• Strong initiative, a hands-on mentality and an independent, solution-oriented working style.
• Strong regional focus and willingness to travel regularly within the APAC region.
• Excellent organizational, communication and coordination skills in an intercultural environment.
• SAP and relevant warehouse, inventory and logistics processes.
• Resilience, integrity, teamwork and a strong focus on execution.
• Import, export and customs clearance software.
• MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with KPI and reporting tools is an advantage.
