  1. Job Context Major Challenges:

With Hindalco s downstream operations expanding rapidly, the organization is focused on enhancing

product quality, improving equipment reliability, and optimizing overall plant performance. Electrical

systems, controls, and automation are critical to sustaining uninterrupted rolling mill operations, where

timely breakdown restoration and safe execution are key to minimizing downtime and production

losses.

The Shift Supervisor (Electrical) plays a pivotal role in this environment by leading all electrical

maintece and breakdown activities during the shift. The role demands quick decisionmaking,

effective troubleshooting, and close coordination with shift and nonshift teams to ensure operational

continuity. In addition to technical supervision, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for enforcing safety

and statutory compliance, maintaining required documentation, supporting basic ERP processes,

managing spares in coordination with stores, and monitoring energy consumption.

By acting as the first line of leadership on the shop floor, the Shift Supervisor ensures equipment

availability, safe working practices, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement in electrical

system reliability.

Major Challenges of the Role

Developing and applying a strong understanding of complex rolling mill electrical and automation

systems, including PLCs, AC/DC drives, instrumentation, and protection systems, to restore operations

quickly and safely under pressure.
