Support Specialist

General Statement of Responsibilities:

The support specialist is responsible for providing the youth/client with support, building confidence and resilience. The support specialist will assist youth/client with building a sense of accomplishments and self-efficiency. The support specialist will help the youth/client develop essential daily life skills such as healthy communication, conflict resolution, goal setting, time management, and leadership development. The support specialist will help youth/client gain practical academic skills such as study skills and goal-setting techniques, helping them prepare for future academic challenges. The support specialist will offer one-on-one support and provide immediate support during emergencies or critical situations.

Education:

May have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Major Duties:

· Will provide resources to foster positive development.

· Will organize and prepare group meetings with youths/clients.

· Will work collaboratively with other staff members and youths to help solve issues.

· Will implement engaging activities, workshops and programs for youth/clients.

· Will teach practical daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, financial management and conflict resolution.

· Writing case notes, documentation, and program records.

· Support youth/client 1:1 with mental health and behavior challenges.

· De-escalate behavioral situations and provide trauma-informed supportive interventions.

· Will work closely with the caseworker and Executive Director.

Pay: $20.72 - $23.75 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 per week
