Support Staff

Position: Community and Direct Support Staff

Location: Bedford, NY

Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am/10:00am - 4:00pm with some flexibility from week to week

Pay: $37 an hour paid through client's Fiscal Intermediary (Hamaspik)

Mileage: Mileage reimbursement provided for community outings

Additional: Lunch stipend provided

About the Position:

We are seeking a caring, reliable, and energetic companion to work with a young woman in her early 20's with Global Apraxia. The ideal candidate will enjoy building a meaningful relationship, getting out into the community, and helping her explore new activities and experiences while providing support with daily routines and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including occasional assistance with dressing, bathing, and toileting as needed
• Provide supervision and assistance with ADLs, mobility, and navigating the community
• Support participation in community activities, outings, and social opportunities
• Help identify and introduce new activities, experiences, and interests
• Encourage independence, confidence, social engagement, and meaningful participation in the community
• Provide companionship, encouragement, and positive support throughout the day
• Help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment
• Drive your own vehicle for community outings; mileage will be reimbursed at the current rate of $0.76/mile

• Comfortable providing occasional hands-on personal care when needed
• Enjoys working with young adults with developmental disabilities
• Creative and willing to think of new activities and community experiences
• Comfortable driving and spending time in the community
• Enjoys building relationships and supporting someone's independence
• Looking for a consistent part-time position with some flexibility from week to week

Pay: $37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14.0 per week
