Support Technician I

Role Summary

Performs hands-on installation, service, and troubleshooting of client systems in the field under the guidance of senior technicians and support staff. This entry-level role focuses on building core technical skills, learning company systems and standards, and delivering reliable on-site support to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, and service low-voltage systems (CCTV, access control, alarm) at client sites.
• Follow provided scopes of work and technical instructions to complete assigned service tickets.
• Run and test cabling, mount hardware, and configure basic system settings.
• Communicate clearly with clients on-site regarding work being performed and completion status.
• Coordinate with dispatch and senior technicians on scheduling, materials, and job status updates.
• Report issues, delays, or unexpected site conditions promptly to support staff or supervisors.
• Load, organize, and maintain materials, tools, and parts needed for scheduled appointments.
• Document completed work, including photos, test results, and notes, in company systems.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE on active job sites.
• Participate in on-the-job training and skill-building under senior technicians.
• Ask for guidance and escalate technical issues beyond current skill level rather than guessing.

Required Qualifications

• 0–1 years of field service, installation, or related technical experience (training provided).
• Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and cabling practices.
• Willingness to learn CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in varied outdoor conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Working Knowledge of the following Skills & Software:

• Fluke LinkWare / LinkWare Live (Cable test management and reporting)
• Trainual (Web-based knowledge base platform)
• Scribe (Documentation and how-to tool)
• Fieldwire (Project management platform)
• ConnectWise (CRM platform)

Work Environment

Primarily field-based (about 80%) — working on active job sites, installing and servicing equipment, and interacting directly with clients on-site.

About 20% is office/shop-based — preparing materials, completing documentation, attending training, and coordinating with dispatch and senior staff.
