What they need

We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and culturally grounded Support Workers to join our team in providing high-quality care and support for four clients aged 8–17 years living with special needs.

These young individuals have Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and are non-verbal, requiring patient, responsive, and consistent support in their day-to-day lives.

Shifts: Part‑time and full‑time shifts available, with a minimum of 30 hours per week offered (12‑hour shifts: 7 am – 7 pm or 7 pm – 7 am).

Hourly rate: $24.08 - $29.97

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily living support to tamariki and rangatahi in line with their individual Support Plans, promoting independence and wellbeing.

  • Complete objective, professional, and timely client records to support quality service delivery.
  • Complete mandatory training and achieve NZQA requirements while applying new knowledge and skills to improve care outcomes.
  • Maintain clear communication with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues, while respecting professional boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate support that reflects the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and respond appropriately to cultural needs or concerns.

Key Requirements:

  • Must have either a Level 3 NZQA Health and Wellbeing qualification (or higher) or relevant experience supporting children or individuals with special needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and care giving skills with a strong focus on quality driven service delivery
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • A reasonable level of wellbeing and fitness to perform the requirements of the role
  • Personal qualities of initiative, integrity, reliability, resilience and self confidence
  • Availability to work a permanent 12-shift schedule
  • A current full New Zealand driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle is preferred.

At RDNS, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.

All applications are required to undergo Police Vetting and CYRAS checks.
