About WillowTree 37 Women’s Support Centre
WillowTree 37 Women’s Support Centre is a sanctuary for women in need - a place of safety, hope, connection and practical support.
Located at 37 Guy Street, Warwick, the centre was established to address a gap in face-to-face support for women across the region. Inspired by the strength and resilience of the willow tree, WillowTree 37 represents growth, renewal and hope.
The centre has strong roots in the Southern Downs community and is supported by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and a local management committee. Together, they create a welcoming environment where every woman who walks through the doors can feel seen, supported and valued.
About the Role
As the Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional and social support to women accessing the centre.
Working alongside the Program Manager, Case Worker and volunteers, you will help women access essential support while creating opportunities for connection, participation and engagement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming women to the centre in a respectful and non-judgemental way
- Providing practical assistance, information and access to essential items
- Offering emotional support, active listening and reassurance within the scope of the role
- Helping women connect with appropriate community services and resources
- Assisting with client intake, referrals and follow-up activities
- Recognising safety or wellbeing concerns and escalating them appropriately
- Developing and facilitating inclusive activities that encourage social connection
- Supporting women to participate in activities and programs offered through the centre
- Providing day-to-day guidance and encouragement to volunteers
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client, activity and service records
- Assisting with community activities, workshops and events
- Contributing to the safe, welcoming and effective operation of the centre
This is a practical support role working alongside the Program Manager and Case Worker. It does not include independent case management, professional counselling or formal assessment.
About You
You are approachable, compassionate and able to build respectful relationships with people from different backgrounds.
You understand the importance of listening without judgement, maintaining professional boundaries and recognising when someone needs additional or more specialised support.
You will bring:
- Experience supporting people experiencing disadvantage, vulnerability or social isolation
- An understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to respond calmly and sensitively when someone is experiencing distress
- Sound judgement and the confidence to escalate concerns when needed
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team
- Confidence working with and supporting volunteers
- Good organisation, record-keeping and computer skills
- The ability to manage private and sensitive information appropriately
Experience in women’s services, homelessness, domestic and family violence, community services or a related area would be highly regarded.
A Certificate IV in Community Services or a related discipline is desirable; however, relevant experience will also be considered.
We encourage applications from people whose skills and experience align with the role, even if their previous job title has been different.
