What they need

Disability Support Workers | Become Part of Something Bigger
Brothers and Sisters in Arms (BASIA)

Don’t just be a support worker. Become part of a movement. Be part of something bigger.

At BASIA, we are building a team united by a clear purpose: raising the standard of disability support and helping people live with greater dignity, independence and possibility.

We are looking for driven, compassionate and dependable people who want their work to matter. People who take ownership, follow through and understand that meaningful change happens through the things we do every day.

We work in complex environments, and we thrive on excellence. Every shift is an opportunity to build trust, create stability and help someone move towards what matters to them.

Your key responsibilities

  • Deliver individualised support that reflects each participant’s goals, preferences and support plans.
  • Assist with daily living, personal care, household tasks, transport and community participation.
  • Support people with complex needs, including behaviours of concern, using agreed strategies and positive behaviour support plans.
  • Build respectful, professional relationships with participants, families and the wider support team.
  • Recognise changes in wellbeing, behaviour or safety and promptly report concerns through the appropriate channels.
  • Complete accurate, objective and timely progress notes, incident reports and other required records.
  • Provide medication assistance and other specialised supports only where appropriately trained, assessed and authorised.

What we expect from you

Reliability. You arrive prepared, honour your commitments and understand that people depend on you.

Ownership. You take responsibility for your work, communicate early and follow tasks through to completion.

Sound judgement. You remain calm in challenging situations, follow support plans and know when to seek assistance.

Professional boundaries. You respect privacy, maintain confidentiality and keep the participant’s interests at the centre of your work.

A willingness to grow. You welcome feedback, participate in training and actively develop your skills.

Teamwork. You communicate respectfully, contribute to effective handovers and help your colleagues deliver consistent support.

Experience and qualifications

We are particularly interested in applicants who bring:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting people with disability, especially those with complex behavioural, psychosocial or daily living support needs.
  • Experience implementing behaviour support plans and using person-centred de-escalation strategies.
  • Strong communication, observation and written documentation skills.
  • Confidence using digital rostering and care documentation systems.
  • A relevant qualification in disability, individual support, community services or a related field, which will be highly regarded.

Applicants should hold, or be able to obtain before commencing relevant duties:

  • NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
  • A Working with Children Blue Card where supporting children.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable, appropriately insured vehicle for roles involving participant transport.

You must also be willing to complete required induction and participant-specific training.

Why BASIA?

Your contribution matters here. The way you listen, the standards you uphold and the consistency you bring help shape the lives of the people we support.

We want people who care deeply, think clearly and follow through. People willing to learn, contribute and take pride in building a team that participants and families can depend on.

Ready to become part of something bigger?

Apply through SEEK with your resume and a short cover letter outlining your relevant experience, availability and why you want to join BASIA.

Bring your drive. Bring your compassion. Become part of the movement.

Other offers great for you!
