Rate of pay: £12.84/hour

Paid Travel Time subject to conditions

Work Days: Shifts available from Monday to Sunday with AM (7am - 2pm), PM (2pm - 10pm) or full day shifts (paid by the visit)

As a Support Worker for Assisted Lives Worcester, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team working to ensure that all our Service Users receive the highest level of care and support within their homes and when out in the community. Our services include but are not limited to:

• Personal Care & Medication Monitoring and Administration

-Live-in Care & Sitting Services

-Shopping and Domestic Chores such as cleaning & laundry

• Social Inclusion such as meals out, escorted day trips and other social activities

Job Overview
ROLE SUMMARY

To undertake, with guidance and support, the tasks necessary to enable Service Users to maintain everyday living skills or to acquire new skills.
To observe and promote Service User’s choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment, and other rights.
To help Service Users make full use of the community resources and facilities such as supermarkets, places of worship or leisure facilities.
To help provide the personal care and supervision required by individual Service Users.
The range of tasks that the Support Worker may be required to undertake covers personal care, domestic/practical tasks, and enabling and support work.

Person Specification – Support Worker

Current, UK full driving license and access to a vehicle – Essential

1) Qualifications/Education/Knowledge – Essential

As you are expected to keep client records, education to a general level is required. Skills in literacy and numeracy is required.

2) Experience – Desirable

Previous experience of working (paid or voluntary) in a social care setting or experience of caring/looking after family members.

3) Abilities – Essential

To work with a range of Service Users, including people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities as well as older people.

To work as a team member also to work alone when required (in many cases in the Service Users own home)

Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and guidelines.

Ability to maintain and enhance the Aims & objectives of the organization.

Ability to communicate with people at all levels, whether these be Service Users, family/carers to professionals and senior managers within the organization.

4) Personal Qualities – Essential

Must be honest and trustworthy. You must be able to work in a flexible manner.

Must be able to maintain enthusiasm in difficult, demanding and sometimes very stressful situations as you may be working with people who may be living in poor circumstances or experiencing difficulties in their personal lives.

5) Circumstances/Health – Desirable

Ability to partake in identified Assisted Lives tasks, as lifting is required such as carrying shopping bags (walking to shops or supermarkets) and move equipment or small items of furniture as we provide cleaning and shopping services.
