Pay: £13.15 per hour

Locations: Great Leighs (CM3) & Braintree (CM77), Essex

We are looking for kind, patient and reliable Support Workers to join our team and provide person-centred support to young people in their own homes and within the community.

We have two part-time opportunities available, supporting individuals with different needs and working patterns. These roles would suit someone who is compassionate, dependable and enjoys helping people live as independently and confidently as possible.

Available Working Patterns

Great Leighs – CM3

  • Mondays: 10:30am – 5:30pm
  • Fridays: 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • 14 hours per week

This role involves supporting a sociable young woman who lives at home with her family. She enjoys spending time with her family, being around her dogs and getting out into the community.

She communicates in a variety of ways, including facial expressions, sounds and head movements, and uses a communication device for more complex communication when supported and encouraged.

Support will include:

  • PEG feeding and associated care
  • Personal care and toileting
  • Hoisting and safe transfers
  • Repositioning and maintaining comfort
  • Supporting communication and understanding her individual ways of communicating
  • Supporting temperature regulation and general wellbeing
  • Using mobility equipment and a mobility vehicle
  • Supporting attendance at a day centre
  • Supporting access to the community and social activities
  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment
  • Providing reassurance, companionship and encouragement

Previous experience supporting people with complex physical care needs is essential for this role. Full training will be provided for role-specific tasks where required, including PEG/enteral feeding.

Braintree

  • Mondays: 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • 9 hours per week

This role involves supporting a young lady during the daytime, both at home and in the community.

Support will include:

  • Accompanying her to day services, activities and outings
  • Supporting routines and daily living tasks
  • Supporting with medication and personal care
  • Encouraging independence and participation in the community
  • Providing companionship, reassurance and consistent support

For this role, a full UK driving licence, own vehicle and business-use motor insurance are essential, or you must be willing to obtain business insurance.

Experience supporting someone with complex needs, such as cerebral palsy, would be helpful but is not essential as full training will be provided.

About You

For both roles, we're looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, kind and patient
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Calm and observant
  • Caring and enthusiastic about supporting others
  • Able to build positive relationships and strong rapport
  • Committed to person-centred care
  • Respectful of dignity, choice and independence
  • Comfortable supporting people with different communication needs
  • Willing to undertake relevant training
  • Able to work in partnership with the individual, their family and the wider support team

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and reside within Essex.
