About the Person You’ll Be Supporting & Your Role

You will be supporting a lady with severe learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. She thrives with the right support, encouragement, and understanding. Her daily routine can sometimes cause distress, which may result in behaviors that challenge, including verbal and physical incidents, walking unclothed, and occasional property damage.

She enjoys a range of activities including baking, gardening, walks to local shops, drives in the community, meals out, pamper days, musical films, and listening to 80s music. Certain events and environmental changes, such as upcoming holidays and seasonal decorations (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc.), can be triggers and require a calm, proactive approach. She is mostly independent with personal care but may need occasional prompting and reassurance.

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for a patient, resilient, and compassionate Support Worker who can provide consistent, person-centred support.

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs.
  • Confidence in managing behaviours that challenge in a calm and positive manner.
  • Ability to recognise triggers and support emotional wellbeing.
  • A proactive approach to promoting independence while providing reassurance when needed.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to support with community activities, appointments, and daily living tasks.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and a good sense of humour.
  • Flexibility to work as part of a dedicated support team.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential, as driving is required to support community activities, outings, appointments, and local trips.

What We Offer

Alongside the satisfaction of making a real difference, you’ll receive:

  • Comprehensive induction and specialist training
  • Clear career progression opportunities
  • Employee benefits, lifestyle savings & well-being support
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Online counselling and GP access
  • Cycle‑to‑work and salary‑sacrifice schemes
  • Enhanced DBS provided

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults with care and support needs and expect all staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
