What they need

About Seabreeze

Seabreeze Day Centre provides person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and additional/complex needs.

We focus on providing a fun, active and meaningful service where the people we support are encouraged to develop their independence, confidence, social skills and everyday life skills.

Due to the continued expansion of our service, we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable Support Worker to join our team.

The Role

This is a varied and active role. You will support individuals both within the day centre and out in the community, helping them to take part in activities and work towards their individual goals.

We are looking for someone who is proactive and genuinely enjoys getting involved. Our Support Workers don't simply supervise activities – they actively engage, encourage and support the people attending Seabreeze to get the most from their day.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs
  • Supporting individuals on a 1:1 basis and within group activities
  • Encouraging independence and the development of everyday life skills
  • Supporting activities such as cooking, shopping, budgeting, housekeeping and community safety
  • Supporting community outings, walks, swimming and other physical activities
  • Supporting social, recreational and sensory activities
  • Following individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans
  • Supporting individuals with personal care where required
  • Supporting medication in accordance with company policies and individual care plans
  • Accurately completing daily notes and other required documentation
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Following safeguarding procedures and reporting any concerns appropriately
  • Working positively as part of the Seabreeze team

About You

The successful applicant must:

  • Ideally hold a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care or above
  • Have experience working within health and social care
  • Be confident supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Be reliable, professional and able to work as part of a team
  • Have good communication and record-keeping skills
  • Be proactive and able to use initiative
  • Be comfortable working both within the centre and out in the community
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding, dignity, choice and person-centred support
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training

Please Note – This Is a Physical Role

Seabreeze is an active service and this position involves a significant amount of walking and community-based activity.

Applicants must be comfortable supporting individuals on walks, community outings and other physical activities throughout the working day.

Working at Seabreeze

We want the people attending Seabreeze to have meaningful, enjoyable and productive days. Our team is expected to be positive, enthusiastic and actively involved in supporting individuals to achieve their goals.

You will join a supportive team within a growing service where no two days are exactly the same.

The successful applicant will be required to complete all necessary pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and evidence of relevant qualifications.
