Complex Care Support Worker / Personal Assistant

Pay: £16.20–£16.80 per hour
Location: LS17, Leeds
Shifts: 12-hour day and night shifts

  • Day shifts: 08:00–20:00 or 09:00–21:00
  • Night shifts: 20:00–08:00 or 21:00–09:00

About the Role

I am looking for a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Support Worker to join my team and support me with my complex healthcare needs, daily life and activities.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in doing things well and wants to make a positive difference to someone’s day-to-day life.

The role is primarily one-to-one, with two-to-one (2:1) support required at certain times depending on my care needs, appointments, activities and plans. The balance can vary from day to day, so flexibility is important. You will need to be comfortable working independently as well as alongside another Support Worker when required.

This is a regular, committed position rather than casual work. Reliability, consistency and a genuine commitment to the role are essential.

A Little About Me

I am in my 30s and have complex healthcare needs, including tracheostomy care, skin and eye care, and medication management. I am blind and use a wheelchair.

I consider myself intelligent, hard-working, caring and down to earth. I enjoy being active, keeping busy and getting things done efficiently. My interests include going to the gym, aromatherapy and wellness, dining out, shopping and exploring the local community.

I have a busy lifestyle and enjoy making the most of my time. I appreciate someone who shares my enthusiasm for getting things done, can think ahead and is happy to get involved in a variety of activities. Every day can be different, so being adaptable, organised and able to use your initiative is important.

I am looking for someone who will work with me in a respectful, professional and positive way, helping me maintain my independence, manage my health and continue doing the things that matter to me.

What the Role Involves

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting my complex healthcare needs, including tracheostomy and airway-related care following full training.
  • Assisting with personal care, medication management, skin care and eye care.
  • Supporting my mobility and wheelchair use.
  • Driving me to appointments, activities and places in the community.
  • Accompanying me on shopping trips and errands.
  • Preparing fresh meals and helping with light household tasks.
  • Assisting with emails, typing, online shopping, research and general administration.
  • Working alongside another Support Worker during periods of 2:1 support.

The role combines healthcare support with practical assistance and community access. It requires someone who can work methodically, recognise changing needs, remain calm under pressure and adapt when plans change.

Essential Requirements

You must be:

  • Female.
  • A non-smoker.
  • Aged 25 or over, for insurance purposes.
  • An experienced and confident driver, comfortable driving on motorways and undertaking longer journeys.

You should also be confident using IT and have good communication and administrative skills. These are important parts of the role, as I rely on support with written communication, emails, online tasks and research.

Above all, I am looking for someone who is mature, responsible, trustworthy, organised, proactive and emotionally intelligent. You should be able to work confidently on your own initiative while also communicating well and working effectively as part of a small team.

Experience and Training

Previous experience in complex care would be an advantage, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided, particularly in relation to my specific medical and care needs.

The position may suit someone with experience as a Complex Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Clinical Support Worker, Community Support Worker, Personal Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, Rehabilitation Support Worker, Nurse, Paramedic or Mental Health Support Worker.

I am also open to applicants from outside the healthcare sector who have strong transferable skills and life experience. The right attitude, maturity, compassion, work ethic, confidence and willingness to learn are just as important as previous job titles.

Who Might Enjoy This Role?

This position could suit someone who enjoys variety, likes to stay organised and takes a practical, can-do approach to their work. You might already have relevant care experience, or you might be looking for a role where your maturity, initiative and people skills can be put to good use.

I value someone who is dependable, takes their responsibilities seriously and understands the importance of consistency in a person’s care. I also appreciate a positive attitude, good judgement and someone who can bring energy and enthusiasm to the working day.

If you are caring, capable and motivated, and feel you could be a good fit, I would be pleased to hear from you.

How to Apply

If you are interested, please send your CV along with a short personal statement explaining:

  • Why you are interested in this role.
  • What relevant experience, skills or transferable qualities you would bring.
  • Why you feel you would be a good fit for the position.

I look forward to hearing from applicants who are enthusiastic about the role and interested in becoming a valued and reliable member of my team.
