What they need

Support Worker

Are you looking for a truly rewarding role where you can make a real difference every single day?

This is so much more than your average Support Worker role—it's a chance to inspire, empower, and grow!

Role: Support Worker

Salary: £25,569.81 per annum

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm (37.5 hours per week)

Location: London Borough of Sutton (at one of our two hubs in Carshalton or Cheam)

Closing Date for Applications: 12th October 2026

Nickel Support is a passionate, award-winning, and growing organisation! We are looking for wonderfully creative, caring, dynamic, and energetic individuals who are excited to join our supportive community as a Support Worker with a difference!

More About Us…

We support over 150 adults with learning disabilities and/or autism across Sutton and surrounding boroughs, offering fantastic opportunities to learn, grow, and move toward paid employment. At Nickel Support, we pride ourselves on our deeply person-centred approach, walking alongside every individual to help them thrive across our three pillars of support: health, relationships, and employment.

We cultivate a genuinely caring, inclusive, and politics-free culture with a strong growth mindset—a place where egos are left at the door, learning from mistakes is embraced, and every milestone, big or small, is celebrated together.

Our heartfelt vision is for every person with a learning disability to lead a rich, purposeful, and deeply fulfilled life.

Running alongside our main service is Interestingly Different, a homeware and gift shop with a difference, based in Carshalton. We sell both locally in-store, as well as online through our website, www.interestinglydifferent.co.uk, reaching customers across the UK. Our range includes beautifully upcycled furniture, hand-designed homeware, and a selection of delicious jams and chutneys. Everything we sell is created in-house by our Trainees, supported by our dedicated and skilled team.

We also run a successful coffee shop, Beans and Bloom, located in the historic Whitehall Historic House in Cheam. Here we serve high-quality barista coffee alongside delicious food. This social enterprise provides meaningful, real-world hospitality training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, helping them to build confidence, skills, and pathways into employment.

A Typical Day…

Based in our Carshalton or Cheam Hub, a typical day is very varied - you could be assisting session leads, following care plans, or supporting an up-cycling furniture session in the morning, and jumping into an exercise or mindfulness session in the afternoon. Working in group settings, you will assist Trainees to develop essential skills and confidence while ensuring their health, safety, and general wellbeing.

Who We Are Looking For…

We are looking for energetic, creative, and dynamic individuals who show kindness and care about making a real difference. You should possess an understanding of, and commitment to, learning about the needs and rights of people with learning disabilities, taking a person-centred approach to achieve the best outcomes for everyone.

Whether you are bringing experience from social care, or transferable skills from retail, hospitality, or other sectors, you will thrive here if you can work well both independently and as part of a supportive team. We value warm, adaptive communication skills, flexibility, a proactive mindset, and the ability to quickly adapt to new teams, environments, routines, and procedures.

In this role, you will work with individuals needing extra support, handle difficult situations and challenging behaviour professionally, write clear reports, and maintain an active awareness of Health and Safety and potential hazards. A full, clean British driving licence is also desirable. If you love collaborating and supporting others with empathy, we would love to welcome you!

In the words of our Enterprise Manager, Dave, who has been with us for nearly ten years now, “Having managed and worked in retail for over 20 years, I felt that I had a skill set that could be used to do something more meaningful and with a purpose, and then an opportunity came up to join Nickel Support. I now consider myself lucky to work with a group of individuals who continue to amaze me on a near daily basis, and it is a joy to watch their skills and confidence grow.”

Perks & Benefits

  • Dedicated monthly employee social fund, along with popular team traditions like Breakfast Club and Fun Fridays.
  • Office closure (currently) between Christmas and New Year as an added perk of paid time off.
  • Excellent wellbeing support with a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme.

High staff satisfaction: 90% of survey participants recommended Nickel Support as a great place to work!
