What they need

Join Our Team as a Support Worker.

Geneva Healthcare is a leading provider of in-home and community-based health, rehabilitation, nursing, mental health, and disability support services throughout New Zealand.

Join a small, dedicated team supporting a young person to live his best life.

This is a 2:1 wakeover role, so you'll work alongside another team member throughout the night. It's about getting to know the young person well, understanding his routines and what works for him, and providing safe, calm support when he needs it.

Most importantly, you'll be working with him, not simply doing things for him.

The role

  • Provide active overnight support and monitoring.
  • Recognise and respond to changes in his wellbeing.
  • Support him calmly through seizures, distress or periods of dysregulation.
  • Follow his individual support and emergency plans.
  • Communicate clearly and contribute to good handovers and documentation.

You'll receive client-specific training and competency assessment to prepare you for the role.

About you

We're looking for people who are warm, reliable, observant and calm under pressure. Your experience might come from disability support, health, mental health, youth work, education or another people-focused role. A relevant qualification or previous support experience is an advantage, but capability, attitude and fit with the team matter too.

This is an active role supporting a tall, physically strong young person, so you'll need good physical strength, balance and mobility to provide safe assistance when required, including during seizures.

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay: $23.97 – $29.68 per hour. Plus $2 per hr weekend allowance
  • Guaranteed hours and travel allowance
  • Free training towards NZQA Health & Wellbeing qualifications
  • Work phone and benefits like discounted Southern Cross Health Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing support
  • Access to Samsung products at discounted price

Why join the team?

You'll become part of a small, consistent team, get to really know the young person you support, and develop the skills to support him well alongside your teammates.

If you're looking for meaningful work where relationships, reliability and teamwork matter, we'd like to hear from you.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you are passionate about supporting children and making a positive impact in their lives, we would love to hear from you.

For further information, please contact: Deepa Joshi on 0800436382.

Applicants must be willing to undergo police vetting and other pre-employment checks.

Other offers great for you!
