What they need
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and reliable Support Worker to join our team at The Welsh Harp, an Ofsted-regulated supported accommodation service for young people aged 16–18.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people as they develop the confidence, independence and practical life skills they need as they move towards adulthood. You will work alongside young people in a supportive, respectful and love-led environment, helping them to make positive choices, achieve their individual goals and build a more independent future.
The role involves building positive professional relationships, providing practical and emotional support, completing key-working sessions, contributing to support plans and risk assessments, promoting education and independence, and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents.
You will be part of a dedicated team and will need to be confident working both independently and alongside colleagues and external professionals. The role includes flexible working, including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts. Sleep-in shifts are paid at £60 per sleep-in, in addition to your contracted hours.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential requirements for this position.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is caring, patient, reliable and approachable, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people to develop independence, confidence and resilience.
You should be able to build positive professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries and remain calm and professional when faced with challenging situations. You should be organised, resilient and able to use your own initiative while knowing when to seek support or escalate concerns to management.
Good communication and IT skills are important, along with the ability to complete accurate records and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that our role is to support and empower young people rather than do things for them, and who can contribute positively to our love-led approach.
If you are passionate about making a positive difference to young people's lives and have the experience, values and commitment required for this role, we would love to hear from you.
