SUPPORT WORKERS WANTED

Mosman Park & East Fremantle, Perth WA
Casual | $42 per hour + superannuation

Make a meaningful difference. Support independence. Build a lasting working relationship.

We are seeking reliable, experienced and compassionate support workers to join a dedicated team supporting a motivated, engaging and university-educated 40-year-old man with Cerebral Palsy.

Currently living with his parents in Mosman Park, he is preparing for an exciting transition to his own home in East Fremantle. We are looking for people who are passionate about person-centred support and committed to helping him live life on his own terms, with greater independence, choice and connection to his community.

He is articulate, has a great sense of humour and enjoys travel, music, technology and good conversation. He is also exploring future study opportunities and wants to remain active, socially connected and engaged in the things that matter to him.

If you are an experienced support worker looking for meaningful, ongoing work where your contribution genuinely matters, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

This position is suited to support workers who are confident delivering high-level personal care and complex physical support in a respectful, dignified and person-centred manner.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Personal care: Assistance with showering, dressing, toileting and daily routines.
  • Clinical and complex care: External catheter management, bowel care and PEG care.
  • Eating and drinking: Assistance as required, following established care plans.
  • Manual handling: One-person transfers using a manual hoist, along with safe positioning and movement.
  • Therapy and wellbeing: Support with prescribed therapy programs, stretching and hydrotherapy.
  • Independence and personal goals: Assistance with employment, future study, volunteering and everyday life goals.
  • Community participation: Support to access social activities, outings and community opportunities.
  • Household assistance: General cleaning, household tasks and light gardening.
  • Assistive technology: Support with the technology he uses to communicate and control his environment.

He communicates verbally and uses switch-access technology to send texts, emails and voice messages, operate his TV and streaming services, and access his laptop and other devices. An interest in technology and a willingness to learn new systems would be an advantage.

Training will be provided in PEG care, catheter and bowel care, and relevant assistive technology systems. Applicants must still have experience with one-person manual handling and be willing to undertake all required training before performing delegated care tasks.

Shifts available

A range of casual shifts are available across weekdays and weekends, between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm, with some flexibility by agreement.

As the transition to his own home progresses, the role is expected to expand to include 24-hour support arrangements, creating opportunities for ongoing work with the team.

We are particularly interested in applicants who can offer consistency, reliability and a genuine commitment to a long-term casual role.

Pay and employment

  • Casual weekday rates starting at $42.00 per hour plus superannuation.
  • Flexible casual shifts across weekdays and weekends.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a person's independence and quality of life.
  • Training in specified care procedures and assistive technology systems.

Applicable pay rates and conditions will be confirmed with successful applicants.

Essential requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • Experience with one-person manual handling and hoist transfers.
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • A completed NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate.
  • A current First Aid Certificate.
  • A current driver's licence.
  • A reliable vehicle.
  • A willingness to work under a nominated registered NDIS provider.
  • A commitment to following care plans, safe work practices and agreed support procedures.

About you

You are someone who takes pride in providing respectful, dependable and high-quality support. You understand the importance of dignity, privacy, choice and consistency when supporting another person in their own home and community.

You will bring:

  • A calm, patient and practical approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, initiative and a strong work ethic.
  • Confidence with personal care and physical support.
  • A willingness to learn and follow established procedures.
  • Respect for individual choice, independence and personal boundaries.
  • A good sense of humour and the ability to build a positive working relationship.
  • A genuine interest in supporting someone to pursue their goals and interests.

Above all, we are looking for people who understand that great support is about more than completing tasks. It is about building trust, encouraging independence and helping someone live a fulfilling life.

How to apply

If you have the experience, skills and commitment we are looking for, please submit:

  1. Your current CV or résumé.
  2. Copies or details of your relevant qualifications, certificates and clearances.
  3. A cover letter outlining your experience, suitability for the role and availability for weekday and weekend shifts.

Please include details of your manual handling and hoist experience, along with any experience in complex care, disability support or assistive technology.

We are seeking genuine applicants interested in a long-term support role. Previous applicants need not reapply.

We look forward to hearing from people who are capable, compassionate and ready to make a meaningful contribution.
