Supportive Home Care Aide

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Care Aide to provide essential support to individuals in their homes. The ideal candidate will assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence. This role requires a nurturing personality and the ability to adapt to various care needs.

Duties Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care, which includes bathing, dressing, oral hygiene and hair care.
• Provide companionship and supervision while caregivers are away.
• Provide chore service including housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing dishes, dusting, meal preparation, shopping, errands, and laundry.
• Monitor safety, security and health care needs of older adults.
• Communicate and channel any concerns about a client’s health, safety, and welfare to the Supportive Home Care Coordinator.
• Collaborate with Case Managers in reference to client referral and needs.
• Complete supportive home care sheets for monthly billings.
• Complete orientation/training prior regular scheduled clients.
• Present a professional demeanor that communicates Colonial Club mission of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in its clients.
• Follow Universal Precautions.
• Participate in team meeting when appropriate and operations meetings, as well as monthly all staff meetings.
• Build effective working relationships with seniors, volunteers, community members and coworkers.

Education and Experience:

Certified nursing assistant, resident attendant or experience in a related field. Previous experience working with and caring for older adults would be beneficial.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to transfer older adults using proper lifting techniques.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must know how to use common house cleaning devices and supplies.
• Must be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• The ability to effectively communicate by expressing thoughts and ideas and listening to those of others.
• Be familiar with proper housekeeping procedures and nutrition.
• Have a personal vehicle, hold valid driver’s license and current insurance. Mileage reimbursement is provided.Physical Environment:
• May be exposed to potentially harmful cleaning agents.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lb.
• May be exposed to cigarette smoke on home visits.
• May encounter unpleasant living conditions on home visits.
• May encounter pets and potential allergens.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.

Experience

• Previous experience in caregiving or home health is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with dementia care techniques is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare providers.
• A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a home setting.
