Surgical Biller

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Job description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable in-office Surgical Medical Biller to join our billing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with surgical and general medical billing, claim submission, claim rejections, insurance verification, and reviewing operative documentation. This position will also assist with additional billing projects and overflow work as needed.

Duties

• Review and submit surgical claims accurately and timely.
• Review patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and coverage information.
• Review and resolve claim holds, exclusions, and billing errors.
• Request and review operative reports and supporting documentation from facilities.
• Review surgical documentation to ensure claims contain the necessary billing information.
• Resolve rejected claims by identifying errors, making corrections, and resubmitting claims.
• Communicate with facilities, providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing questions and claim issues.
• Follow up on unpaid and outstanding claims as needed.
• Maintain accurate notes and documentation within the billing system.
• Stay current on surgical billing guidelines, modifiers, payer requirements, and billing regulations.
• Assist with additional billing projects and overflow work as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical terminology, coding, and billing systems is essential.
• Experience with medical billing and collection processes, anesthesia background preferred.
• General medical billing knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and correct rejected claims.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Clear and professional communication skills when interacting with patients, facilities, and insurance carriers.
• Previous experience in a medical billing role or related field is preferred but not required.
