Surgical Technician

About the role

The Surgical Technician provides technical and clinical support to the hospital's Operating Room (OR) team, primarily assisting surgeons during surgical procedures. This includes preparing and providing the necessary instruments, implants, and surgical supplies, as well as applying appropriate surgical techniques to support the efficient and safe conduct of each procedure.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and studies assigned surgical cases in advance to ensure adequate preparation for each procedure.
• Inspects all instruments, implants, and other surgical equipment required for the procedure prior to surgery.
• Provides effective technical assistance to surgeons during various surgical procedures.
• Ensures that all instruments and implants are properly disinfected and handled after surgery.
• Verifies the completeness and condition of all instruments and implants prior to their return to the office.
• Immediately reports any critical incidents encountered during surgery, including defective, damaged, or compromised implants and instruments.
• Conducts regular case presentations before and/or after surgical procedures to discuss case requirements, surgical techniques, and relevant observations.
• Maintains proper handling and care of surgical instruments, implants, and other company-provided medical devices.
• Adheres to proper aseptic techniques, infection-control practices, and hospital Operating Room protocols at all times.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in a science/health-related field, such as Physical Therapy, Nursing, Medical Technology, Biology or a related discipline.
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying loads of up to twenty (20) kilograms, when required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Operating Room environment.
• Good communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills when working with surgeons, hospital staff, and internal teams.
• Work experience not required but preferred.
