Surveillance Analyst

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a leading organization to identify experienced Trade Surveillance Investigators for a long-term consulting engagement supporting a large-scale financial crime and market surveillance initiative.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience investigating market abuse, market manipulation, insider trading, and suspicious trading activity across securities, cryptocurrency, derivatives, and/or OTC products.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed trade surveillance investigations involving potential market abuse, manipulation, and insider trading.
• Review trading and order-management activity across cryptocurrencies, securities, derivatives, and/or OTC products.
• Analyze both vanilla trading products and more complex derivative activity.
• Investigate unusual trading patterns and determine whether activity warrants escalation.
• Perform cross-market, cross-venue, and multi-asset analysis when appropriate.
• Utilize market data platforms to evaluate trading activity and relevant market conditions.
• Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research to supplement investigative findings.
• Leverage blockchain analytics when reviewing digital asset activity.
• Evaluate trading behavior holistically and distinguish potentially suspicious activity from legitimate market behavior.
• Prepare clear, well-supported investigative documentation, conclusions, and escalation recommendations.
• Manage assigned investigations while meeting established quality and productivity expectations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in trade surveillance, market abuse, market manipulation, insider trading investigations, or a closely related financial markets function.
• Prior hands-on experience reviewing trading and order-management activity.
• Experience with securities, cryptocurrency, OTC products, derivatives, or a combination of asset classes.
• Knowledge of common market-abuse and manipulation typologies.
• Experience conducting OSINT and investigative research.
• Working knowledge of market data platforms.
• Experience with or working knowledge of blockchain analytics.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and written documentation skills.
• Ability to independently assess complex trading activity and develop defensible conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Chainalysis, Elliptic, or comparable blockchain analytics tools.
• Chainalysis or Elliptic certification.
• Experience conducting investigations across multiple markets, trading venues, or asset classes.
• Previous trading or middle-office experience supporting trade execution or operations.
• Understanding of cryptocurrency and the broader digital asset ecosystem.
