Surveying Field Technician

The role is responsible for assisting in the operation of land surveying and working along side the party chief to support a variety of design, mapping, and construction projects. Safely transporting, setting up, and operating a variety of field equipment to collect accurate survey data. Maintaining equipment in good working order and reporting on any equipment failures. Collecting and communicating accurate field data as required for a variety of survey conditions.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the completion of data collection for a variety of surveys under the supervision of the Party Chief.
• Operate land survey equipment including but not limited to robotic total stations, traditional total stations, GNSS receivers, levels, etc. as necessary.
• Clearing lines, establish points, tape, chain and level for field survey projects.
• Read and interpret various types of maps and plans as necessary to complete survey requirements.
• Assist Party Chief in keeping neat and legible field notes with accurate measurements.
• Keeping company vehicle, tools, and equipment clean and in working condition and notifying management of any concerns.
• Load and transport equipment necessary for field survey use.
• Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey.
• Observe and comply with all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on an active construction site.
• Observe and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Skills required:

• One year experience in land surveying
• Perform physical labor to include standing, walking, using hands, tools, controls, reaching with arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50-75 pounds
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic mathematics and reading skills
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to communicate professionally in English in both verbal and written communications

Job type: Full-time position with overtime availability and discretionary vacation and paid holidays after a year of employment.

Pay: starting at $20 per hour

Job location: Venice, Florida

Personal transportation is required. Dress code is casual and laid back with a slightly more formal attire required only for specific occasions with prior announcement. The work environment is outdoors for the majority with an open office environment available for administrative tasks. Moderate physical activity required by performing somewhat strenuous daily activities on a construction site or uncleared land. Exposure to the outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, and wind.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
