Survey Technician

LRE is seeking a motivated survey technician. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and committed to high-quality work performance. Must have excellent planning, organization, and communication skills, and can work well with other staff in a project team environment. The Survey Technician will be collecting data utilizing common surveying equipment and will be essential functions listed below.

Responsibilities will include:

• Perform manual labor such as bending, digging with a hand shovel, cutting brush for lines, carrying equipment, stakes, rebar and other items that may be heavy (between 5 and up to 50 lbs.) daily
• Set up, adjust and operate surveying equipment and instruments
• Maintain equipment and vehicles
• Assist in conducting surveys to determine location of natural features and man-made structures on the surface, underground and underwater
• Collect field data using common surveying equipment to report information back to surveyors and other LRE professionals
• Measure, record and calculate data based on instrument readings
• Lay out, locate and recover markings, stakes, and other such signifiers at work locations
• Help create drawings and computer images of job locations
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information

Requirements:

• Ability to plan, schedule work and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Broad computer knowledge and Microsoft Office applications
