Survey Technician

Join a busy boutique Christchurch survey practice. Real field work, real responsibility, and no big-firm red tape.

Our client is a well-established, owner-run land surveying practice in Christchurch. It’s a small, tight team led by a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, with a steady flow of residential and urban infill work across the city. They need a capable Survey Technician who can take ownership in the field.

The role
You’ll spend most of your week on site, trusted to run jobs on your own and bring back accurate data. Expect:

• Building set-outs on residential and infill developments
• Topographical surveys, often with quick turnarounds
• Field support for cadastral and subdivision work
• Some light processing of your own field data

What you’ll bring

• 2+ years’ hands-on field surveying experience in New Zealand
• Confidence setting up and running a total station and GNSS on your own
• Solid set-out and topo experience; cadastral exposure is a bonus
• A surveying qualification (NZ Diploma in Surveying, Unitec, Toi Ohomai, BSurv or similar), or equivalent field experience
• A full NZ driver’s licence
• Reliability and initiative, and you’re comfortable working in a small team

Why this role

• Variety across lots of sites, not months on one job
• Regular hours in a consultancy, not a contractor roster
• Direct access to the director, so you learn the full job from field to title
• In a small team, your work is seen and valued
