Sushi Service Chef - Jōji

Jōji is seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join the team at its Michelin-starred Japanese Omakase restaurant.

The Sushi Service Chef will work alongside Jōji’s Chef-Partners to assist in preparing a variety of sushi, including Nigiri and Sashimi. This role also includes the preparation and presentation of appetizer courses and other menu creations, executed to the exact specifications of Jōji’s recipes and standards. The ideal candidate will take pride in delivering an exceptional and memorable dining experience while supporting the team in upholding the highest levels of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.

Jōji is closed every Sunday and Monday, providing a built-in weekend for our team. We are also closed for major holidays, allowing for meaningful time to rest and recharge.

Requirements:

• Ability to perform a variety of fish fabrication techniques
• Ability to maintain the highest standards Food Safety and Sanitation practices with attention to detail

Skills, Abilities and Experience:

• 3+ years of work in a Sushi restaurant
• Knowledge of fish butchery and preparation
• Previous New York fine-dining restaurant experience or Omakase experience is a plus but not mandatory

Education/Credentials:

• NYC Food Protection Course Certification (preferred)
