Role Description

The Sustainability Manager holds a crucial leadership position within the ESS team. This role entails aiding in the development and implementation of sustainability strategies and resource efficiency practices for our clients. Responsibilities include conducting National Australian Built Environment Ratings System (NABERS) Energy and Water Ratings for principal client sites and supervising the gathering, analysis, and management of energy, water, waste, and emissions data across diverse client accounts. The Sustainability Manager plays a key role in advancing sustainability initiatives and maintaining adherence to environmental standards and policies, especially in alignment with the Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and strategic reporting to enhance sustainability and environmental performance.

  • Liaise with energy retailers and assist Evolve FM facility management and procurement teams with the management of energy accounts.

  • Manage Green Lease obligations including preparing energy performance reports, chairing building management committee meetings and preparing business cases to implement environmental initiatives.

  • Monitor and report on sustainability and environmental performance including providing recommendations for energy, water and waste saving initiatives.

  • Perform comprehensive data analysis to pinpoint trends and identify potential areas for cost savings and performance improvements.

  • Compile comprehensive emissions data for Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy reporting.

  • Proven ability to identify, scope, and implement sustainability projects and initiatives that contribute to reducing the environmental footprint of leased and owned properties.

  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency measures, renewable energy integration, and carbon reduction strategies to support the transition to Net Zero.

  • Undertake NABERS ratings and BEEC’s for key client sites.

  • Maintain strong client relationships, offering guidance on sustainability and environmental regulations.

  • Highly flexible and adaptable in a changing and demanding environment.

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key client representatives and internal stakeholders, acting as a primary point of contact for sustainability-related matters. Proactively understand client priorities, manage expectations, coordinate service delivery, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to enhance client outcomes and strengthen the overall account relationship.

Requirements

  • Sound commercial experience with NABERS and BEEC Assessments.
  • Extensive experience in the building services, facilities management, or property management sectors.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in data management, analysis and reporting.
