What they need

  • Deliver Group-wide sustainability strategy
  • Broad climate, ESG and value chain scope
  • Influence practical, measurable business action

Turn Briscoe Group’s sustainability strategy into practical action across an NZX-listed retail business. You’ll bring together people, information and priorities across the Environment, Community and Our People pillars, helping business leaders maintain momentum and supporting responsible decisions for the long term.

This broad role spans governance and reporting, climate and emissions, circularity and responsible sourcing. You’ll influence outcomes across the Group, translate evolving requirements into clear action and help strengthen sustainability capability.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Support Office in Morningside, Auckland.

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinate delivery of the Group Sustainability Strategy, annual roadmap, climate transition plan and priorities across the Environment, Community and Our People pillars.
  • Chair the Sustainability Working Group, maintaining clear ownership, actions and measures while keeping delivery on track.
  • Coordinate sustainability reporting, Board updates, metrics and evidence, including climate-related disclosures, greenhouse gas reporting and assurance support.
  • Support environmental and responsible value chain initiatives covering circularity, waste, packaging, energy, emissions reduction, ethical sourcing and human rights.
  • Connect Community and Our People initiatives with the broader strategy, supporting progress reporting, communications and engagement.
  • Monitor relevant legislation, standards and stakeholder expectations, translating emerging issues into practical advice and action.

What you’ll bring

  • At least two years’ relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, climate, environmental management, responsible sourcing or a related field.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental management, business, supply chain or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience and demonstrated capability.
  • Experience coordinating projects, programmes or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Exposure to sustainability reporting, ESG data, environmental programmes or greenhouse gas measurement.
  • Strong written, analytical and reporting capability, with good attention to detail.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and influence outcomes through advice and collaboration.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and turn information into practical actions.

Ideally, you’ll also bring:

  • Experience in retail, consumer goods or supply chain.
  • Exposure to climate disclosures, Scope 3 emissions, circularity or resource-efficiency programmes.
  • Experience in responsible sourcing, assurance or sustainability engagement.
