Assistant Swim & Dive Team Coach (Part-time) – Winter Season

Our coaches are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Our coaches are responsible for providing feedback and instruction, character development, and guiding direction to our student-athletes so they may achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in their sport.

This coaching role requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student-athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community, as well as follow the mission of the Academy. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Coach, under the direction of the Head Coach/Associate Head Coach, assists with most day-to-day operations of the Swim & Dive program, including practices, meets, and team activities. Practices are held three days per week before school and Sunday afternoons.

• Assist with planning and executing engaging swim practices, providing instruction and technical feedback on strokes, starts, turns, finishes, and racing strategies.
• Help supervise practices and maintain a safe and positive training environment.
• Assist with meet preparation, lineups, warm-ups, race strategy and athlete supervision.
• Help track athlete progress and identify areas for continued development.
• Foster a positive team environment that inspires teamwork, respect, and commitment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with athletes, parents, other coaches, officials, and club volunteers.
• Ensure all applicable Policies, Safety Rules, and the Code of Conduct are followed by all team members.
• Former collegiate swimmers with an interest in coaching are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates must satisfactorily complete all background checks and required training.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain required certifications.
