Swim Instructor

Overview

Join our vibrant team as a Swim Instructor and inspire confidence, safety, and a love for swimming in learners 6 months to 13 years old at Nova Scotia's first purpose built swim school! In this role, you will deliver engaging swim lessons that promote skill development, water safety, and enjoyment. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help our swimmers learn to love the water, while fostering a positive and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead 3:1 group swim lessons for swimmers 3 years to 13 years old, tailored to students’ skill levels and learning styles
• IF you are interested, there is opportunity to also teach 10:1 group lessons for parents and swimmers 6 months to 48 months old
• Demonstrate proper swimming techniques, water safety practices, and stroke development
• Provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement
• Maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing pool rules
• Facilitate classes following defined lesson plans that align with curriculum standards
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians about progress and safety protocols
• Assist with pool maintenance duties as needed to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met
• Maintaining a reliable schedule

Qualifications

• Proven experience in teaching swimming or aquatic instruction with certification ( expired certifications accepted )
• Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate various strokes confidently
• Excellent communication skills to motivate and connect with swimmers
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude in fast-paced or challenging situations
• Certification in lifeguarding is highly desirable but not mandatory
• Passion for teaching, water safety, and helping others succeed in the water

Pay: From $18.75 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 – 12.0 per week
