What they need

Swim:ED is ACES Education’s on-site school swimming programme, bringing high-quality swimming and water safety teaching directly to children. We are looking for an outstanding swimming professional who wants to do more than teach lessons.

You will lead delivery, develop people, protect quality and help us grow the programme. The role is intentionally hands-on. Initially, the successful candidate will teach and lead our current Swim:ED provision. As the programme expands, they will increasingly oversee multiple sites, support and manage staff, develop future site leads and help build the systems needed for a successful multi-pool operation.

*Travelling to schools across Leeds, Wakefield and Barnsley*

1. Lead excellent teaching and pupil outcomes

Deliver high-quality swimming and water safety lessons and model the standard expected across the team.

Plan and adapt learning for different starting points, confidence levels and SEND needs. Teach towards National Curriculum outcomes including 25m proficiency, effective strokes, water safety and safe self-rescue.

Use initial and final assessment accurately to show progress, inform grouping and identify where provision needs to adapt.

2. Own quality and programme development

Observe delivery, coach staff, provide feedback and follow improvement actions through to completion.

Quality assure teaching, assessment, pupil engagement and compliance with Swim:ED standards.

Develop schemes of work, teaching resources and practical approaches that improve progression, inclusion and impact.

Use pupil data, school feedback and team insight to continually improve the programme.

  1. Lead and develop people

Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of swimming teachers, lifeguards and future site leads.

Set clear standards for professionalism, communication, punctuality, safeguarding and ownership.

Provide practical CPD, mentoring and performance support so quality does not depend on one individual.

As additional pools open, increasingly coordinate and manage teams across multiple school settings.

4. Build exceptional school relationships

Be a visible, personable and trusted point of contact for school leaders and staff. Communicate clearly, resolve issues calmly and ensure schools understand pupil progress and programme impact.

Gather feedback, identify opportunities to improve the school experience and help turn excellent delivery into repeat bookings and referrals.

5. Support growth and multi-site delivery

Help ACES move from one Swim:ED pool to multiple simultaneous provisions without diluting quality or culture.

Support prospective-school visits, demonstrations and meetings where teaching expertise adds value.

Identify case studies, testimonials, extension opportunities and new ideas that support retention and growth.

Work alongside colleagues responsible for sales and logistics to support successful mobilisation of new contracts and settings.

6. Organisation, safety and problem solving

Maintain exceptional organisation across staff, timetables, pupil information, assessments, qualifications, QA actions and school communications.

Ensure records and actions are accurate, current and completed on time - without relying on others to chase them.

Anticipate problems, take ownership and create practical solutions when unexpected delivery issues arise.

Work within Swim:ED safeguarding, PSOP/NOP/EAP and operational requirements, and stop activity where safe delivery cannot be assured.

Build simple, repeatable systems that allow the programme to scale effectively
