SWIMMING INSTRUCTORS - HULBERT AQUATIC CENTER POSITION : Swimming Instructors - Hulbert Aquatic Center

SUMMARY: The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing participants with a safe, effective and enjoyable lesson while responding to their needs as they relate to their participation in the aquatic program.

Essential Duties

• Provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and enjoyable environment
• Follow the procedures of certifying agency, the Minn-Kota Chapter of the American Red Cross
• Knowledgeable of life guarding regulations established by the American Red Cross and the Hulbert Aquatic Center
• Knowledgeable of all pool equipment and ensure that they are working properly and report any problems to the Aquatic Supervisor
• Attend all meetings and training sessions
• Record chemical readings, water temperature, pool inspections, accident/ incident reports and participant statistics, etc.
• Keep full attention on participants in your class while you are instructing them.
• Lesson plans are required for each lesson in writing on the back of the attendance sheets.
• Ensure participants meet course completion requirements and issue course completion reports and certificates.
• Ability to adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• Registered Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid
• Ability to read, write and comprehend technical documentation and information
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group settings
• Ability to work with a variety of people
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to use computers and other forms of technology
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
• Understanding of confidentiality and commitment to abide by confidentiality regulations

SALARY: Beginning at $16.33/hour
