Overview

James Manufacturing is looking for an experienced CNC Setup Technician to set up dual-spindle CNC lathes. This is a position for someone who can independently take a job from blueprint to finished part and serve as a technical resource for the manufacturing team.

If you are an experienced machinist who enjoys solving machining problems, optimizing setups, and helping others become better machinists and machine operators, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate dual-spindle CNC lathes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and job routings.
• Write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
• Select tooling, inserts, gages, and workholding.
• Set tool and machine offsets and make dimensional adjustments.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Troubleshoot tooling, programming, dimensional, and machine problems.
• Use machine manuals and technical resources to diagnose problems.
• Monitor machines and identify potential maintenance issues.
• Train and assist Operators and other Setup Technicians.
• Work with tooling/equipment vendors when needed.
• Identify and implement improvements to cycle time, setup time, tooling life, quality, and productivity.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC manufacturing experience.
• Proven CNC setup experience.
• Strong dual-spindle lathe experience (Miyano & Nakamura Tome).
• CNC programming and editing experience.
• Strong blueprint and tolerance interpretation skills.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to train and assist other employees.
• Nakamura-Tome, Miyano and/or Star Micronics experience is preferred.

Pay: $25.50 - $29.50 per hour
