Synon Developer - Contract

Our client, a financial services organisation, is looking for an experienced Synon Developer to support and enhance its business-critical lending platforms on an initial 9 month day rate contract.

The role

• Design, develop and maintain applications using Synon/CA 2E on IBM i (AS/400)
• Develop and modify RPG, RPGLE and CL programs
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, defects and data issues across Synon, RPG and DB2
• Work with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver enhancements
• Write SQL queries and perform data analysis to support business and operational needs
• Monitor and troubleshoot IBM i environments, including job and performance monitoring
• Take part in release deployments and production validation

What you'll bring

• Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications with Synon/CA 2E on IBM i (AS/400)
• Strong RPG, RPGLE and CL programming skills
• Solid knowledge of IBM i systems and architecture
• Experience with SQL and DB2
• A background supporting large, complex legacy applications in production
• Strong troubleshooting skills and clear communication with business stakeholders

Nice to have

• Financial services, lending, mortgage or loan servicing experience
• Experience in regulated, mission-critical production environments
• Exposure to web services, REST APIs or system integrations
• Involvement in IBM i modernisation work
