Senior Systems Analyst

Overview

Our client, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join a strategic technology team.

This is a senior-level position suited to someone who is comfortable taking ownership of initiatives from day one. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, engage with stakeholders across business and technology teams, drive requirements through to delivery, and produce high-quality user stories with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills, excellent user story writing capability, solid SQL knowledge, and previous experience within Financial Services, ideally Securities Services, Custody, Settlement or Post-Trade environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of requirements and analysis activities across multiple initiatives.
• Lead discussions with business and technology stakeholders to understand objectives and define solutions.
• Convert complex business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and functional specifications.
• Drive backlog refinement activities and ensure stories are delivery-ready.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Architects and QA teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Perform detailed data analysis and investigation using SQL.
• Analyse system functionality and identify impacts across upstream and downstream applications.
• Proactively challenge requirements and identify risks, gaps and dependencies.
• Facilitate workshops and requirement-definition sessions.
• Support testing, release and implementation activities where required.
• Ensure deliverables are completed to a high standard with limited direction from management.

Essential Experience

• Significant experience as a Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
• Demonstrable expertise writing User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
• Proven experience operating independently and taking ownership of workstreams.
• Strong SQL skills with experience analysing and validating data.
• Experience working directly with software engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Extensive Agile / Scrum experience.
• Financial Services experience is essential.
