System Analyst (Retail ERP/Backend Systems/Integration)

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate System Analyst to join our core internal engineering team. In this role, you will be a primary contributor to ERP integration, backend system integration, and development of retail systems. The role will design reliable backend services and data interfaces connecting ERP, POS, OMS, WMS, CRM, e-commerce, and in-house platforms. A secondary responsibility is to provide advanced production support, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure system reliability.

This position will collaborate with the Business Solution and Application Teams in Hong Kong on IT projects.

Responsibilities:

ERP, Backend & System Integration

• Architect and develop robust backend services, APIs (RESTful and, where required, SOAP), and middleware to facilitate secure, real-time or scheduled data exchange between in-house systems and retail platforms, including POS, ERP, Order Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, CRM, and e-commerce platforms
• Build and maintain event-driven and message-based integrations to ensure accurate synchronization of product, inventory, pricing, promotion, order, customer, supplier, and financial data across all channels
• Implement secure authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and JWT, together with encryption, secrets management, and audit logging for internal and external integrations
• Design and support ERP interfaces covering master and transactional data, such as products, suppliers, purchase orders, goods receipts, stock transfers, sales, returns, invoices, and finance postings
• Establish end-to-end observability through structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerts for APIs, middleware, background jobs, and ERP interfaces

In-House System Development

• Design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and highly available in-house applications (e.g. inventory management tools, operational dashboards, customer-facing services)
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code (e.g. PHP, .NET)
• Lead the transition toward a microservices and API-first architecture
• Champion engineering best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing (unit and integration), and rigorous code reviews
• Collaborate with Business Solution Manager and Business Analyst to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Database Development & Optimization

• Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases – including schema design, indexing strategies, and query performance tuning
• Write complex SQL queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations) and analyze execution plans
• Implement database best practices (normalization, partitioning, caching, replication where needed)

System Support & Maintenance

• Provide system support to users for production issues
• Perform deep-dive root-cause analysis on system failures, performance bottlenecks, and integration data discrepancies
• Develop and implement hotfixes, patches, and performance optimizations
• Set up and monitor application performance and logging tools to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact store operations or customers

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, systems development and system integration
• 5+ years of experience in a Solution Architect or Technical Lead/Management role

Technical Skills

• Strong background in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, C#/.NET, Python etc)
• Deep expertise in API design (REST) and integration middleware
• Experience with cloud platforms e.g. AWS or AliCloud
• Solid understanding of database architecture e.g. MySQL
• Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and delivering complex projects on time

Preferrable Qualifications

• Direct experience working in the Retail industry is a definite advantage
• Familiarity with specific retail technology ecosystems e.g. POS, ECOM, CRM, OMS, ERP, WMS etc
• Understanding of retail-specific challenges such as high-volume transaction processing, real-time inventory synchronization, and omnichannel fulfilment
• Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and able to read and write English technical specification
