LIMS System Administrator – LabWare

Help keep scientific laboratory systems reliable, accurate and ready for the work that matters.

Azooa is inviting expressions of interest for an APS6-equivalent LIMS System Administrator opportunity supporting the National Measurement Institute (NMI). You’ll work closely with laboratory staff, LIMS developers and ICT teams to support daily operations and improve system functionality.

📍 Location: Melbourne preferred; strong applicants in Sydney and Canberra will also be considered.

📅 Estimated start: 16 November 2026.

⏳ Duration: 12 months, with two potential 12-month extensions.

🕒 Working arrangements: Onsite, up to 40 hours per week.

What you’ll do

• Administer and support LIMS, including user accounts and access.
• Troubleshoot issues, fix bugs and develop system enhancements.
• Use SQL for reporting, data extraction and controlled data corrections.
• Maintain interfaces between LIMS and other systems.
• Support backups, archiving, disaster recovery and recovery testing.
• Prepare documentation, SOPs and test plans, and train users.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and the vendor through testing, change control and upgrades.

What you’ll bring

• Practical LabWare LIMS administration experience in a scientific or analytical laboratory.
• SQL and database administration skills.
• Programming or scripting experience, ideally LIMS Basic; relevant C#, Visual Basic, Java or HTML skills are also valuable.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain Baseline security clearance.

Rate expectations

The Azooa Contracts Team’s recommended value-for-money position is under AUD $150 per hour including superannuation.

Azooa is accepting higher rates on a case-by-case basis, taking into account relevant experience, specialist skills, security clearance and alignment with the role.
