System Engineer

Spherion Wisconsin & Northern Illinois is seeking a remote Systems Engineer to join our Wisconsin-based client for a direct-hire role!

The Systems Engineer designs, develops, implements, and improves secure, reliable technology solutions across the organization’s Microsoft cloud environment. The role focuses on Azure automation, integrations, infrastructure, application delivery, platform resilience, and related engineering initiatives while contributing to Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, and business application capabilities. The position also serves as a technical escalation resource, applying broad technical knowledge, disciplined troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to resolve complex issues and deliver lasting improvements in alignment with established architecture, security, governance, and engineering standards.

What you’ll do

• Engineer and implement secure, reliable, and maintainable Microsoft cloud solutions in alignment with established architecture, security, governance, and engineering standards
• Develop automation and integration workflows using Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Functions.
• Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, configurations, standards, procedures, and change records.
• Promote application resilience, availability, and security using Azure Front Door, Azure API Management, Application Gateway, and firewall technologies.
• Manage and maintain Microsoft Dataverse tables, views, and schema
• Develop scripts and infrastructure solutions using PowerShell, T-SQL, ARM, and related technologies.
• Engineer and support endpoint and application solutions using Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Defender, and related technologies.
• Support and extend Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Dataverse through integrations, configuration, automation, and related services.
• Support development efforts by creating and maintaining Azure App Services, content management systems, websites, and digital experience platforms.
• Engineer and maintain Azure infrastructure using best practices for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
• Support and improve Microsoft 365 services and related identity, collaboration, and productivity capabilities.
• Assist with cloud modernization efforts, platform lifecycle management, and technical debt reduction.
• Assist with employee onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing endpoint maintenance.
• Develop and manage Azure DevOps pipelines, source control, CI/CD, testing, and deployment processes.
• Diagnose and resolve escalations spanning endpoints, Azure, Microsoft 365, identity platforms, websites, APIs, integrations, and enterprise applications.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement improvements that reduce recurring incidents and operational support demand.
• Support secure Customer Identity and Access Management solutions using Microsoft Entra External ID, Azure B2C, and related platforms.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field and three or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in engineering, administering, and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services in a business environment.
• Experience developing automation and integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, Azure Functions, APIs, or similar technologies.
• Experience using PowerShell, SQL, ARM/Bicep, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, or similar scripting and deployment technologies.
• Working knowledge of Azure networking, subscriptions, resource groups, governance, policies, monitoring, and cost controls.
• Familiarity with Azure Front Door, Azure API Management, Application Gateway, firewalls, application delivery, and resilience practices.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, source control, CI/CD pipelines, testing, Agile delivery, release practices, and structured change management.
• Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID in a business environment.
• Experience supporting Azure App Services, websites, content management systems, APIs, or digital experience platforms.
