Systems Engineer (M365, Azure & Meraki)

About the opportunity:

A national retailer with a large store network, distribution centres and corporate offices is looking for a Systems Engineer to be the senior technical owner of its infrastructure, cloud and network. You'll be the L3 escalation point, the person who gets new sites ready to trade, and the one who keeps automating and simplifying the environment. It's a broad, hands on role with real ownership and visibility across the business.

What you'll be doing:

• Acting as the L3 escalation point for infrastructure, cloud and network issues
• Owning M365, Azure and Intune tenant configuration, policies and compliance
• Managing AD, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA and privileged access
• Looking after Windows Server and virtual infrastructure, including patching and lifecycle
• Running Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, security appliances and SDWAN across every site
• Keeping backup, DR and monitoring in shape, with restores tested rather than assumed
• Getting network and infrastructure ready for new stores, refits and office moves
• Working with carriers, MSPs and vendors on faults and provisioning
• Remediating vulnerabilities and supporting cyber incidents alongside the security team
• Scripting away repetitive admin with PowerShell
• Mentoring the service desk and desktop support teams

What we need to see:

• 5+ years in systems, infrastructure or network engineering across a multisite business
• Strong M365, Azure, Windows Server, AD and Entra ID administration
• Hands on Meraki experience (switching, wireless, SDWAN) or a comparable enterprise platform
• Sound grasp of TCP/IP, routing, LAN, WAN, WiFi, DNS, DHCP and VPN
• Experience with backup, DR, monitoring, patching and vulnerability remediation
• Strong root cause analysis within an ITIL aligned ITSM environment
• Solid PowerShell scripting
• Comfortable with after hours change windows and an on call roster
• Clear communication with non technical stakeholders

Bonus points:

• Azure Administrator Associate certification
• CCNA or similar networking certification
• Microsoft 365, Endpoint, Identity or Security certifications
• Infrastructure as Code or configuration management tooling
• Retail, POS or distribution centre experience
• New site builds, office relocations or cloud migrations
• ITIL 4 Foundation
