What they need

JPI is seeking a Systems Security Engineer – Acquisition Program Protection to support the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Office of Acquisition Support and Systems Engineering Policy.

This is an acquisition-focused program protection position, not a hands-on cybersecurity operations role. The successful candidate will support Coast Guard acquisition programs by helping integrate Cybersecurity and Program Protection requirements into acquisition policies, plans, documentation, and lifecycle activities.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting federal acquisition programs and understands how cybersecurity and program protection considerations are incorporated into program management and acquisition decision-making.

This is a 1099 opportunity.

At JPI, we strive to empower our people and excel for our clients. We hold ourselves to high standards and prioritize our values of being one team with unwavering integrity. We are motivated by our mission and driven to deliver solutions that exceed expectations. Will you join us?

Responsibilities

  • Advise USCG personnel on Acquisition Cybersecurity and Program Protection policies, requirements, and practices.
  • Develop, review, and update acquisition cybersecurity/program protection policies, guidance, processes, and templates.
  • Review and provide actionable feedback on Program Protection Plans (PPPs), Acquisition Cybersecurity Strategies/Plans (ACSPs), Risk Assessment Reports (RARs), Cybersecurity Risk Recommendation Memoranda (CRRMs), and related acquisition documentation.
  • Support integration of Cybersecurity and Program Protection throughout the Acquisition Lifecycle and Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).
  • Support Critical Program Information (CPI) and Criticality Analysis (CA) activities used to identify Critical Functions (CF), Critical Components (CC), and program protection requirements.
  • Review acquisition and systems engineering documentation to identify program protection risks, gaps, and recommended actions.
  • Help translate cybersecurity requirements and policy into practical acquisition and program-level actions.
  • Coordinate with program managers, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to address program protection issues.
  • Monitor relevant DHS, DoD, and USCG policies and recommend appropriate updates to Coast Guard acquisition guidance.
  • Prepare findings, recommendations, briefings, and other written products for government stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 8+ years of applicable experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience supporting a major federal acquisition program/project, including program/project management or assistant program/project management experience.
  • Experience with Program Protection, Acquisition Cybersecurity, Systems Security Engineering, or related acquisition security activities.
  • Familiarity with PPPs, ACSPs, Criticality Analysis, CPI, cybersecurity risk management, or comparable acquisition documentation and processes.
  • Ability to review policies and program documentation and develop clear, actionable findings and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work directly with government acquisition stakeholders.

Preferred

  • USCG, DHS, or DoD acquisition experience.
  • Experience developing or reviewing PPPs or acquisition cybersecurity strategies/plans.
  • Familiarity with DHS/USCG acquisition and SELC processes.
  • Knowledge of SCRM, NIST SP 800-160, NIST SP 800-37, or related program protection frameworks.

JPI is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
