System Engineer

Are you an experienced System & Storage Engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work but is also ready to take the lead in a major IT infrastructure transition?

For an international organization in the medical technology sector, we are looking for a Senior System & Storage Engineer to manage and optimize the existing infrastructure while supporting the transition to an external managed service provider.

As the organization moves away from its in-house data centre, your role will gradually shift from hands-on engineering to technical coordination, supplier management and ensuring service quality.

What will you do?

• Manage VMware, Windows Server, Linux and enterprise storage environments.
• Resolve complex 3rd-line incidents and ensure infrastructure stability.
• Manage file shares, access permissions and remote desktop solutions.
• Oversee dependencies between servers, applications and infrastructure.
• Guide the data centre transition and gradual handover of OS management.
• Coordinate with and technically challenge the external IT service provider.

What do you bring?

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise system engineering at senior / 3rd-line level.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, Windows Server and Linux .
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage, backup/restore and access management (NTFS/AD).
• Knowledge of RDS and/or Citrix.
• Experience working with or managing external IT service providers.
• Fluency in Dutch and English .

What do we offer?

• An initial 12-month employment contract , with the intention of transitioning to a permanent position directly with our client within a maximum of 18 months.
• A 40-hour working week .
• A gross monthly salary between €5,000 and €5,500 , depending on your experience.
• 35 days of annual leave .
• Additional benefits including holiday allowance , a 13th-month payment and pension contributions.
