System Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to help maintain, improve, and troubleshoot the technology systems that support daily business operations. You'll work across system administration, infrastructure maintenance, performance monitoring, and technical support to keep systems reliable and secure.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving technical problems, investigating the causes of system failures, and finding practical ways to improve performance. You'll work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with colleagues to plan changes, resolve incidents, and maintain clear technical documentation.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot business systems and IT infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and resource usage to identify potential problems.
• Investigate technical incidents, identify root causes, and implement appropriate fixes.
• Support system updates, patches, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Maintain system security by following established access controls and maintenance procedures.
• Help manage backups, recovery procedures, and business continuity requirements.
• Automate repetitive administrative tasks where appropriate.
• Document system configurations, maintenance activities, troubleshooting steps, and technical changes.
• Collaborate with IT colleagues and other departments to address system requirements.
• Test system changes before implementation and verify that services operate as expected afterward.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
• Communicate technical issues, potential risks, and progress updates clearly.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in systems engineering, systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related technical role.
• Understanding of operating systems, servers, infrastructure components, and system configuration.
• Troubleshooting skills and the ability to investigate technical problems methodically.
• Familiarity with system monitoring, performance management, and incident resolution.
• Understanding of access management, security practices, patching, and backup procedures.
• Ability to use scripting or automation to simplify routine technical tasks.
• Strong documentation and organisational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Careful attention to detail when implementing changes or investigating system issues.
• Ability to manage assigned work independently while collaborating with a wider technical team.

What to Expect in the Role

You'll be expected to follow established procedures, test changes carefully, and keep technical records accurate. When a system behaves unexpectedly or a proposed change creates a risk, you should raise the issue promptly and explain what you have found.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time hybrid position based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The specific onsite schedule and remote-working arrangements should be confirmed during the hiring process.

Pay: $117,000.00 - $122,000.00 per year
