System Engineer - Contract 1 Year

Payable (Pvt) Ltd is looking for a System Engineer ( 1 year contract) to join our Infrastructure & Systems team and help maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing infrastructure supporting our fintech and payment platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Linux/RHEL servers across Production and Testing environments.
• Deploy and manage applications using Apache, Tomcat, Java, and related technologies.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and infrastructure health.
• Manage and support AWS and Google Cloud (GCP) infrastructure and services.
• Support server deployments, migrations, and infrastructure-related activities.
• Troubleshoot network, firewall, WAF, application, and server-related issues.
• Manage and maintain databases, including MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Perform database monitoring, backup, replication, performance, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Perform OS patching, server hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security-related activities.
• Maintain infrastructure monitoring and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on infrastructure-related activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/RHEL administration.
• Experience with Apache, Tomcat, and Java application hosting. Hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Good understanding of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP is preferred.
• Knowledge of VMware, Nagios/monitoring tools, Bash/Python scripting, WAF, or security technologies will be an added advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
