System Engineer (M365)_2026

The IT Systems Officer is responsible for the administration, maintenance and technical support of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 environment and related IT infrastructure. The role ensures secure, reliable and efficient IT services while providing responsive Level 1 and Level 2 support to users across office, remote and vessel environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise the organisation’s Microsoft 365 environment to ensure availability, security and performance.
• Research, design and implement Microsoft 365 solutions aligned with business and operational requirements.
• Configure and support Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender in line with organisational security and management standards.
• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support, including remote troubleshooting and user assistance.
• Monitor system health and conduct regular reviews, testing and analysis to identify performance, availability and security issues.
• Support network and firewall infrastructure and troubleshoot related technical issues.
• Manage IT hardware deployment, replacement and lifecycle activities.
• Perform and validate system updates, backups and restoration activities.
• Coordinate IT onboarding and offboarding for new and departing employees.
• Maintain system documentation, configuration records, standard operating procedures and end-user guides.
• Maintain accurate hardware and software asset inventories and complete scheduled IT operational checks.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve technical issues and improve IT services and user experience.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support, including support onboard vessels when required.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend standby support as part of the IT support roster.
• Travel overseas when required to provide ad hoc IT support.
• Assist with IT procurement, including vendor sourcing, quotation evaluation, order coordination and follow-up.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
• More than 3 years of Level 1 and Level 2 IT support experience in a medium-sized or large enterprise environment.
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
• At least 2 years of technical exposure to network and firewall solutions, preferably within an SME environment.
• Strong customer service, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours standby support and travel overseas when operationally required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft 365 Administrator certification or equivalent Microsoft certification.
• Microsoft Azure Administrator certification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting IT users and equipment in maritime, offshore or vessel environments.
