System Integration Engineer

Our client is seeking a hands-on Engineer with strong experience in ZenHub, GitHub, and Jira Cloud APIs. This role will focus on migrating data from ZenHub/GitHub to Jira and developing scripts using Python and GitHub Copilot.

Ideal candidates will be able and willing to work 3 days a week in Calabasas, CA or at least be onsite for meetings. (Local candidates preferred) This will be a 3 month contract (W2) with possible extensions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate workflows and processes.
• Build, integrate, and troubleshoot solutions using ZenHub and GitHub APIs.
• Work extensively with Jira Cloud APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to support integrations and automation.
• Utilize GitHub Copilot to accelerate scripting, development, and troubleshooting.
• Design and implement API-based integrations between project management and development tools.
• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and improve workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver automation solutions.
• Document scripts, integrations, and technical processes.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience working with ZenHub and GitHub APIs.
• Strong experience with Jira Cloud REST APIs and MCP.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
• Experience using GitHub Copilot for software development and scripting.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, JSON, and API integrations.
• Ability to independently develop, test, debug, and maintain automation scripts.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating Jira, GitHub, and ZenHub workflows.
• Familiarity with Agile development environments and DevOps practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflow automation.
• Experience with GitHub Actions or CI/CD automation.
