System Programmer

Db2 Systems Programmer (for z/OS)

Remote working - Monday to Friday (full-time hours)

6 month initial contract

Working as part of a Team who currently support 50+ Db2 subsystems across multiple mainframes and geographies, your roll will involve (but not be limited to):

• Install and test new versions Db2
• Continuous delivery of maintenance for Db2 and tooling
• Support and management of distributed Db2 connections
• Engineering solutions to exploit automation
• Stability and integrity of a highly responsive OLTP (CICS) Db2 environment
• Capacity planning
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
• Monitor performance
• Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database and develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
• Troubleshooting activities

You will need to be familiar with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design with business awareness and understanding of the business requirements of IT, along with an understanding of Incident management and working knowledge of Agile best practices would be very beneficial.

Technical expertise needed:

• Experience of working as a z/OS Systems Specialist with significant skills in the Db2 arena
• Db2 production support
• Db2 software maintenance
• Db2 performance tuning
• Db2 application support
• Programming skills (REXX/Cobol preferable)
