System Safety Engineer, Strategic Programs & Integration

For our client, we are seeking a System Safety Engineer, Strategic Programs & Integration to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.

This role will lead system safety program planning and milestone roadmapping for advanced vehicle initiatives. The position will translate vehicle-level goals into safety deliverables across engineering teams, while driving readiness, risk management, and execution discipline across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will partner closely with technical leaders to standardize safety processes, remove bottlenecks, and support scalable workflows for complex automotive programs.

Location: Kirkland, WA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $241,000 – $297,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead program planning and milestone roadmapping for system safety initiatives
• Spearhead workstreams that translate vehicle goals into safety deliverables across teams
• Establish and execute safety baselines for product expansions and new capabilities
• Track safety readiness criteria across multiple platforms and resolve bottlenecks promptly
• Partner with team leads to standardize safety processes and develop automation tools

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in technical program management or safety engineering
• Strong knowledge of system safety engineering principles and risk management standards, including ISO 26262 and MIL-STD-882
• Experience managing complex technical programs from concept through validation, including executive reporting
• Deep understanding of autonomous vehicle systems and software/hardware release lifecycles
• Proven ability to influence diverse teams in fast-paced environments
• Experience establishing engineering workflows and project management frameworks using Jira or similar tools
