The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Systems Accountant. The Systems Accountant’s role is to provide accounting knowledge and support to the Finance team on HIA’s financial data management information systems.

Is the Data Steward for Finance, ensuring the quality and integrity of the data in the financial systems which includes educating, training and supporting the finance team and business staff on key data requirements and processes. Collaborating with various stakeholders as required for enterprise data governance and change management requirements.

The Role

Based in the national office in Canberra you will assist in the preparation of timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reports to satisfy the informational needs of both internal and external customers.

Key duties of this role are:

• Provide financial accounting support for the timely delivery of the HIA Finance teams’ outputs.
• Understand the complete financial systems of HIA and maintaining finance data governance.
• Be the Data Steward for the Finance master data entity.
• Support the continuous improvement of finance processes, and as they relate to the financial systems, including conducting process review(s).

The Successful Person will have

• Work with HIA’s Technology team (linking in 3rd party technology providers) in supporting recommended system upgrades and helping to resolve any issues.
• Review and maintain all financial systems policies and procedures, aligned to HIA’s data governance model and security policies.
• Identify and recommend data, system and/or process enhancements to improve efficiency and streamline the outputs of Finance.
• Assist with the preparation, review and analysis of monthly financial reports.
