Systems Administrator

Piper Technology is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Systems Administrator to maintain, configure, and support the organization's IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will help ensure system availability, network reliability, data security, and efficient day-to-day technology operations. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple technical priorities.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain servers, operating systems, and business applications.
• Administer user accounts, access permissions, and security policies.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot server, network, software, and connectivity issues.
• Perform routine system updates, patch management, and maintenance.
• Manage data backups and assist with disaster recovery procedures.
• Support cloud services, virtualization platforms, and enterprise IT systems.
• Maintain system configurations, technical documentation, and IT asset records.
• Implement security controls and follow established IT policies.
• Collaborate with technical support staff, developers, and vendors to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Recommend improvements to system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a related IT role.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with user management, access controls, and system security.
• Experience with backup procedures, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting methods.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize technical tasks.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and automated system administration.
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery planning.
• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft or CompTIA Server+, are an advantage.
